Casapueblo – what a surprise!
The morning started, you should say as usual, with some homework. Not to late, I called for an Uber to bring me to Casapueblo, a house with a very organic architectur. In the Uber, we had a very nice conversation about sustainability. In Spanish! About sustainability, as such, as policy in Uruguay and in Uruguayain cars especially. Could follow what the guy said and even answered in short sentences, grammatically probably all wrong, but… who cares, for now?
Casapueblo. Choose the place to visit because of its organic structure. Little did I know! First room in the museum shows a documentary about the artist, who created the place: Carlo Paéz Vilaró. A film of about 15 minutes. Watched about 5 times, as a kind of little Spanish lesson… tried more and more to recognise words of the English subtitles in the spoken Spanish 🙂 And understood his vision even better, with each round.

The bigger surprise was in the story itsself.
How the artist thought about life and lifechoices, how he used his art for vreedom activism, making the respectful presentation of underpriveledged, ignored people and communities his purpose, picturing social issues and promoting solutions. Using colours and patterns meaningful to these communities in his art. He created a lot of wallpaintings, because in that way, his art was publicly visable to everybody. Even the used language, choices for words and arguments, empowered the story even more. Didn’t expect such deep thoughts behind these playful walls. (Says a lot about me?)
His message: Find your purpoese! Styles and structures to make it meaningful will reveal themself on your path.

At the museum, his sun celebrations is done by sunset. Read! Be amazed!
The Uber chauffeur asked me, how long I attented to stay in the museum. 10 minutes? Half an hour? At a hunch, I said, probably 3 to 4 hours. He didn’t believe me. Finally, I staid for about 5 hours. What a great place!
In the evening, I took care of some more itineraries.
