More than a bustrip
What a wonderful day! Couldn’t have been any better.5Half way to the bus station, I went into the Pathway of Pounamu, a locamuseum. Pounamu is the maori name for greenstone, jade. In New Zealand it is only found in three places, one of them is the Westcoast. The museum shows how the maori community lifed before the English arrived, about their travels to and trade with the east coast and the northern island. Values and treasures are explained and – because you know now – given to your guardiance, to care and protect.

And then, the walk to the bus station with all the luggage was another workout. Don’t mind 🙂
It was crowded at the bus station… loaded bus, I expected. Different from other places, everybody wanted to be first, that’s not the usual way. The driver sorted by destination: boarded first who went the most far though he could store this luggage without bothering anymore. Belonged to the lucky once: got a windowseat, shadowsite of the bus.
The tour was amazing! Rivers and bridges, mountains and fields. Had skiped Hokitika from my travellist. Well, we had a coffee break there, enough time for a short walk through the town. The driver guided us along the tour. Get the camaras ready on the left… getvthe cameras ready on the right. Wide roads, small streets, along the coast or winding up and down through the hills. We learned about farming, mining, history. He topped his own service quality when we reached Fox Glacier: asked everybody left in the bus, where she or he is staying and delivered everyone of us at the doorstep of the accomodation! Even carried the luggage to the reception. Should just be a regular busservice. Prevented me to have to walk 1,5 km tonthe motel.
Settled in, enjoyed the scenery, and went to find a place for dinner.
