Day 3 – Follow the pattern
Also today it was 1 day – three countries. From our hotel to the Balaton lake, it wasn’t far. Meant to visit the volcano crater on our way, lying in the Ság mountains near Celldömölk. This volcano distinguished 50.000 years ago. We had past the point before we noticed. Al least, we learned, that this mountain area north of the Balaton Lake originated from volcanic activities.
For lunch, we stopped in Keszthely, at the west edge of the lake. Quite some years ago we had a holiday with our children nearby and made a day trip to this city. Yarned about old memories, the kids, so-called fathers. Remarkable how different some memories were. We didn’t have kesselgulash, kürtöskalács or any other typical Hungarian food, we talked the night before about we would like to have, once again. And off we went for the next part of our trip.
Never had been in the westpart of Hungary. The rolling hills, little villages, neat forests. We really enjoyed the ride.
Crossing the Hungarian – Croatian boarder was no hurtle at all. To the boarder to Bosnia-Herzegovina, it only was a little more than 120km. Through the hills, it needed a bit time. When we reached the boarder, it was closed. There seemed to be a kind of little D-tour, which actually ended in the little village under the bridge which we had to cross and where the boarder control seem to live.
At this point, we had to choose the highway-route. Our next stay was in Banja Luka. Can’t tell any special about the city.
