Stari Most -Day 4

The tour through Bosnia-Herzegovina is quite a stretch. And as we not on the run, we take our time. Today’s goal became Mostar and we reached far before night fall.

From Banja Luka on, almost the whole trip went along the river Vrbas. What an amazing scenery! The river changed a lot along the way. The constant fact was: the water level was surely to low, at parts even completely try.

At Jajce, we left the river. The castle towering over the city, some kind of city wall… we just saw it from the parking space along the street. Seems, it was the place where the first king of Bosnia used to live, centuries ago.

And on we went, through other beautiful landscapes, stopped once in while along the route, just to have a bit more time to take it in. Bosnia-Herzegovina is definitely worth another trip!

In Mostar, we stayed in an old villa, just under the roof. Was an interesting layout… with a lot of steps between the zones and rooms. Probably to cover some static beams?

We had a 10 minute walk to the Old Bridge, the one, that was build in the 15th century, preserved well all the time, until the bombing in 1993. People do so much dome things! [In my opinion … war is one of the dumbest: all the violence, all the destruction… just to solve NOTHING! Just some arrogant men, playing with power, not even getting really involved themselves… just sending children of other people to trauma and death. Disgusting!]
The bridge might be rebuild in the original style, it certainly lost character, and is exploited in many ways. Drones, speed boats don’t add charme to the spot. Having said that: is still is impressive and magnificent! The little cobble stone streets, every house along with its own character. Colourful. And still somehow tranquil.
We had our dinner at one of the many terraces and went back home with a bottle of wine. I still had some Dutch cheese and we bought some grapes along the way. Good stuff for a good talk.
