By bus to Wanaka
After my morning workout to the busstop, I expected a nice, relaxed ride to Wanaka. We had the same driver we came with here. At least, for the first part of the journey. Couldn’t have been more wrong! The trip was stunning! And kept us busy. We didn’t have many actual stops at to pick up or drop passengers. But we had quite a lot stops at viewing points! Dropped of the make some pictures. We stopped twice along the coast and when we turned to the mountains, we stopped at every bigger waterfall, valleyview, historical point,… you name it. It’s just a scheduled line, not a kind of excursion tour.Even switching drivers didn’t make a difference. The next one kept on going with stopping at interesting sites.
Basically, the trip was too short. Could have go on for a few more hours. So much beauty, different behind every corner, never boring.
Wanaka is quite a busy place. Busy in a nice way, not overcrowded or so. We got dropped at the lakesite, a litte lake of 42 km, if I remember right. My accomodation was at the edge of the town, a bit uphill. Again, no Uber, no taxis available. After some hours at the bus… what can I say? I settled, cooled down a bit at the little spring and pond in the garden and went down to the center for some groceries. Had to be back on time for some calls.
