First day in New Zealand
It’s a long trip to come here. Actually, I thing I found (for me) the best way: just one stop over in Dubai, 2.5 hours. Worked fine with me. Had two loevely sun rises and a good sunset on the way. Not much more to tell about the views from the plane.
In Dubai, we had to wait for about an hour before the clearance for take off came along; in Auckland the doors stayed closed for about half an hour. But what does it matter, on a trip like this? In Auckland on the ground, the guy next to me, finally, became chatty.
Auckland welcomed us with drizzles and rain. The temperature is a bit different from back home, right now. Left Europe at about -3*C and left the terminal at about 26*C, and quite some humidity. Gave my system the rest of the day to adapt 🙂
The motel I booked, is next to Alexander Park/Cornwell Park, with a view along a little church to the One Tree Hill. The bus to the city center stops right at the corner. After a little siesta, I took a stroll through the neighbourhood. It’s cute: nice little houses in lush greenery. Fits my mood. On my way back, I did some groceries for breakfast. Settled.
This evening, I’ll make my plans for the rest of the week. In preparation, I looked into what I can do, what I would like to do. Now, it is decition time. Starting slowly, slowing down.
