Grace
We have two whole days in this beautiful city. Where to start with? The heat made the decision for us: the cool chambers of the City Palace. But first: rooftop breakfast. Nice view over the lake, a little breeze and the surroundings almost quiet (measured by India’s standards).
We choose the small streets and staircases without sellers to find the entrance of the palace. Spot on! It was quite a tour through the palace: it was intentionally build with a lot of small hall ways and staircases to confuse any attacker. Would have worked! Definitely! The path took us through the centuries and the development in luxury. And grace.
Back on the streets, we needed…. coffee! Found a nice little Greece place with real, real espresso. All day good.
Meanwhile, I got more and more unsatisfied by the fact that I had to take all my pictures with my phone. It’s not bad, but not what I want. Too many shoots I already had to left out because it would not be the quality I want, anyway. Thus, this afternoon I took een tuk-tuk to a canon-care shop I found online to ask for help. The guy did what I already tried a hundreds times, without any succes. So did he. Said it needed the competencies of a technician to fix it, but he could rent me a camera for a day. No thanks. Too much trouble, not enough trouble solving. But – I should have known – the tuk-tuk driver had a brother with a older shop, but with real qualifications. If he could take me to his brother? Sure. His brother was not there, but his father was. Tried the same steps. Said it would take until the next morning to fix it. Really? Really. Really wish, my camera will work again when I pick it up tomorrow. Because a closed road we took a D-tour through town back to the hotel. Sight seeing by incident. No extra costs.
And yet, it was almost time to leave for the boat for the sunset “cruise” (45 minutes ;). The boat we had tickets for was not there. But there was a boat. Whatever. We got seated. The boat got crowded. Exactly, why we had chosen another boat. Anyway, the sunset will be the same. Lovely to see all the palaces and the hotels in the lake from nearby. Amazing buildings, beautiful, with grace.
In Udaipur at the evening it would not be smart to make another choice then a rooftop restaurant. Even it has a dachshund and a pug to vacuuming the place. They came with lovely blues and jazz. Deal!
And now – halfway on the journey already! – we have to decide: postcards? Or not?
