The final leg – Day 5

One more day on the road to reach Albania.

We started the day with search for breakfast. There are a lot of coffee shops along the road and in every town. They to just that: serving (amazing!) coffee, maybe some soda. At the end, we decided to just take the coffee and buy some bread rolls and stuff at the super market to have our own little picknick.

Not far from Monstar is Blagaj Tekke, an old Derwish house. The complex is placed affront a rock wall, along a river spring, coming from this rock. If you’re able to (mentally) dismiss all the tourists, it’s an amazing tranquil space, certainly spiritual. The place was chosen by the first Derwish to celebrate creation of nature, the created beings, life itself. Written down as legacy for all Derwishes to follow.

And again, we drove through beautiful landscapes, stopped every now and then to just celebrate the beauty. At a hill top restaurant with amazing views we had our lunch. Afterwards it seemed to be just a few hundred meters to the boarder to Montenegro. Driving through the country we realised: this is another one to visit once more. Hill, the sea nearby, friendly, charming.

Just before dinner time we crossed the boarder to Albania and found our place for the night about 20 km along the Shkodiën lake.

Tomorrow, we stay in, taking a break from all the driving. What have we seen a lot, already! Luckily we didn’t take a flight… we would have missed so much!
