Brazilian side and off to Manaus
After breakfast, the driver took us to the Brazilian side of the falls. The Argentinian site was quite a walk, on the Brazilian side, you hardly take 100 steps. You walk from the parking lane through the ticket counter, to step into the car, again. After a while, you walk about 20m from the parking lot to the road train, you switch to a jeep, and from there to the follicular to reach the speed boat to the falls. In the road train, the guide tells a bit about nature, trees and what’s their place in the ecosystem. With the speed boat you have two choices: a bit wet or really-really wet. (They even have changing room at the station.) With a plane to catch a few hours later, really-really wet wasn’t an option… First highlight at the speed boat: a black kaman at the beach next to the station. Laying there around, didn’t move the whole time.
Seeing, feeling the waterfalls down at the bottom was impressive! Water is a powerful matter. Could have stay there for hours… From this point you have a better view at the semicircular canyon over a length of 2.7 km in depth. Simply spectacular!
From Iguaçu we had a stop-over in São Paulo. Seen the city from above … according to our taste, we didn’t miss to see not more of it. In Manaus our guide picked us up, and with a little d-tour, we reached the hotel. Already driving through the city makes you feel the bigger distance to the better known places in the country. The hotel was a bit different, too. Probably, they rented out apartments in the early day: every three or four rooms had a little hallway together, partitionerd bij a shared door from the main corridor. Even-though, every room had its own bathroom.
We arrived late, after 9PM. Too late for dinner. (We have had some lunch at São Paulo, but this was already a while ago.) The receptionist advised us to order at iFood (a kind of Brazilian UberEat). Try to install the app, but without Brazilian phone- and taxnumber, creating an account was impossible. Thus, the receptionist offered his phone, with his app-account to order. Even called us in our room, when the food arrived.
