Ignorance
The place where I am staying has a laundry room for guests. Quite on time. I had to do some laundry… household duties while you travel. Seemed, the washing machine was not operating well. Well. Back to a good old handjob. Put the jacuzzi to use 😉 Took a bit more time, than I liked, but anyway. Job done.
Right in front of the hotel is the busstop. Took the bus to the trainstation. Seemed, different from what I was told in Sydney … you just can use your credit card to check in and out with public transport, anywhere in the country … here, I had to by a local card with some founding. Couldn’t by it in the bus, the driver told me to buy it at the trainstation. I could go with him now, anyway. At the trainstation, I tried to buy a pass for two days… thats all I need, but the shortest available period was 7 days. Cheaper than the Uber-tour yesterday. Solved. It took 40 minuts for the metroto to reach the city center. What a crowd, there! Quite hard music on every corner. Traffic was regulated and partly restricted. When I took the tram to the Botanical Garden, I finally got it … Grand Prix in Melbourne! Sometimes, when you choose to ignore the dayly news for a while, you miss relevant information! The Botanical Garden is about halfway between central and de circuit, I learned. And I understood why I had so a hard time to find a place to stay in Melbourne…
At the exact moment I stood at the port to the gardens, the airshow started, followed by circeling helicopters. I had came here to listen to the birds, the bees in the trees, the serenety of the gardens. I had expected peace and quiet. You even could hear the racing cars, like standing next to the track. Needed some strong mental walls to got me present in the here and now. The gardens are beautiful! Small ecotopes put together for different landscapetypes of the planet, in between ponds and meadows. Across the water near the café, a wedding was going on. Could they even hear their vowles, with all the noise in the background? They closed down a bit earlier today. Pink gave a concert on the grounds? Time, to go back to the edge of the town, for some peace and quiet. Couldn’t have been more wrong! When I left the train, the evening squad already started to fight for their places, like crows in Europe. Here, you have parrots and kakadoos. This wasn’t far from 100 db! But.. it’s nature… natural sounds. I stood and listened for a while. Maybe, tomorrow I’ll try to get some shots of it.
