Time for some reading
The morning started great! Watching the fog to swirling around the mountain tops, using cracks and and small gorges to creep up gave me a great inner peace.
Before breakfast, I took a little walk down to river, just below the street our little cottage is situated. Mountain clear, ice cold water, about the doubled amount than before the thunderstorm. All the days it already was confronting how dry everything is, how many riverbeds don’t even have little mud pools or any sign of water in it. Though, nice to see at least a little stream!
Through the day, it kept raining. We stayed in, certainly have enough books to brighten up our day. Later in the afternoon, we strayed through the village: the Reconciliation tower and also the church deserve a visit, for sure.
The Reconciliation Tower, also known as the “Lock-in Tower” or “Kulla e Pajtimit” in Albanian, is a historical structure located in the village of Theth in northern Albania. Theth is part of the Albanian Alps and is known for its natural beauty, traditional stone houses, and cultural heritage.
The Reconciliation Tower is a traditional Albanian tower with a unique historical and cultural significance. The tower served as a place where disputes and conflicts among families or individuals in the community were resolved through a customary process of reconciliation. The reconciliation process was an essential aspect of the Kanun, a set of traditional Albanian laws and customs.
Walking paths here provide you climbing structures to cross fences… people are aloud to go, sheeps are not. Even to church is only reachable by climbing some wooden ladder.
Near the church, our host has a little bar. Well, more like a container with an improvised terras clinking to the edge of the cliff. We had to stop for coffee, not so much for a talk… he speaks no English, we don’t speak Albanian… Well, we had the guesters-rich type of conversation you go to.
The neighbour of the place, where we stay (which brought us in contact with our host in the first place, is an amazing very friendly young woman. For our breakfast, she treated us with a stuffed cake roll. Reminded us both a little bit of Christmas in its taste. Just lovely.
