Traveldays
The day in Wellington was a workday. Didn’t see much of the place. The weather wasn’t that great either. Had good conversations, put ideas to (digital) paper.
On Saturday, I took the ferry to the Southisland. When I came to the terminal, I learned, that they had to cancel all sailings for sunday because of bad weather. They tried to rebook people in an already overloaded schedule. Glad, I had booked for Saturday without any trubbles. Can’t imagine what it would have been done to my plans, when I had to wait for the next ferry for a day of 4 or 5…
The trip was amazing! The first part, out of Wellington isn’t that spectacular, but as soon as you come into the fjord… astunishing! Mountains on both sides, rocks, just a lot to see. The last part before the harbour of Picton, the ferry seems to squeeze right between the hills, not much room on either side.
Picton is a nice little town, quite active for a place most people just pass through. Cute. The place, I stayed at, was really lovely. The owner: an amazing woman, chatty, kind, energetic, cool.
Sunday, I had the bus to Nelson. From Blenheim on, it was quite busy. Everybody wants to be in Nelson (or further). Abel Tasman is calling!
I think, this is the first time, I stay at a backpackers hostel (not absolutly sure). Not in a dormit (can’t do that to others), I have my own room with ensuite. Could do my laundry and went out to have a bite, before I tried to sleep, with a fighting couple next door…
